Andy Mans Club, Charitable Excellence Award 2024
Andy Mans Club, Halifax
ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23. His devastated family, Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler, were determined to found a club where men aged 18 and above could speak openly about their mental health. In mid-2016, nine men met in a small room in the stereotypical Yorkshire town of Halifax with a simple aim of talking through their issues and helping each other deal with their mental health. They all felt a magic in that room that had to be shared. This was the start of a movement that has grown faster than anyone could have ever imagined. Today, ANDYSMANCLUB has blossomed into over 190 support groups nationwide, offering solace to over 4,500 men each week, with an army of 1,600 volunteers on board. It's a lifeline born from heartbreak, guiding men towards hope and recovery. They firmly believe in the power of talking and that “It’s Ok To Talk”
