The Yorkshire Choice Awards reward not only business and community heroes across the county, but also Young Achievers and inspirational young people too.
There are 12 youthful achievers nominated from across our region, all of whom have worked tirelessly to achieve personal, sporting or charitable goals. All our nominees are under sixteen years of age and were nominated by their communities within the Yorkshire area.
Young people have also been nominated in the Inspirational Individual category, which rewards those who have made a difference to the lives of others, often overcoming adversity to do so. One inspirational individual is Bethany Hare, founder of the charity, Bethany’s Smile. Set up when Bethany was just 12 years old, the charity is raising funds to build Smile Cottage. Here families will be able to spend quality time together when they are faced with the news of a short life expectancy or terminal illness.
The Yorkshire Choice Awards are very proud to be raising funds for Bethany’s Smile this year, particularly since Bethany herself epitomises all that the awards stand for.
A vital fundraiser for local charities, Yorkshire Choice Awards have grown considerably over their 3 year existence, raising almost £30,000 for local charities via sponsorship from local businesses, ticket sales and online auctions.
The awards will be presented at a glitzy, black tie event held at Centenary Pavilions, Leeds United on 06 April 2019. Hosted by Christa Ackroyd, the evening is an uplifting celebration of Yorkshire success, recognising the unsung heroes within our communities. Tilly Ducker aged 14 years will be performing at the awards for the second year. Tilly began performing at the age of 7, gained her first professional role aged 8 and has since appeared on stage, in musical theatre and on TV.
The vote is public and over 200,000 votes were cast in the first few weeks. Voting closes on 01 March 2019. To vote for your local community Young Achiever, or to vote in any of the other 12 business and community categories, head to the Yorkshire Choice website here: https://www.yorkshirechoiceawards.co.uk/votehere
