There are heroes stalking our streets, but they don’t wear capes. Instead, they wear their humility and ordinariness as a cloak of invisibility.
The Yorkshire Choice Awards aim to remove the cloaks to expose the ordinary heroes and heroines of our local communities and high streets and allow their communities to nominate them, giving them the recognition they deserve.
Nominations will be open until December 2021 and the public vote will open shortly after.
With awards including Charitable Business, Independent Business, Inspirational Individual, Young Achiever and Volunteer of the Year, the aim is to reward those within our communities who have shown extreme courage and determination. Those who have changed their own lives and those of others.

A vital fundraiser for local charities, Yorkshire Choice Awards have grown considerably since 2016 and 2022 will be no exception. Supporting MND Association inspired by Rob Burrow
Former Leeds Rhinos scrum-half Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019, just two years after ending his playing career by captaining Leeds to a record-extending eighth Super League Grand Final.
Rob is one of an estimated 5,000 adults in the UK currently living with motor neurone disease. Every day, an average of six people are diagnosed with MND. The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, funding research, and campaigning for those people living with, or affected by, MND.
The Rob Burrow award will celebrate individuals, young people and groups who have contributed to the charity, MND Association, helping to raise awareness and vital funds.
This award will be selected by a judging panel and the winner will be announced on 7th May at our gala dinner awards ceremony.
Rob and Lindsey Burrow said: ‘We are absolutely honoured to have this award named after Rob to celebrate the inspiring people who have given their time to support people affected by MND. This is a lovely gesture that will hopefully raise further awareness and funds for the MND Association.’

The annual awards will be presented at a black-tie event held at Centenary Pavilions, Leeds United on Friday 6th May 2022 and the evening is an uplifting celebration of success across our region.
