Amongst us are individuals whose compassion, resilience, and determination leave a lasting impact on our community. The Local Fundraiser Award celebrates these extraordinary souls who channel their passion into raising funds for causes close to Yorkshire hearts.
Our 2023 Awards highlighted an inspiring name: Ian Flatt. Diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019, Ian faced it with unmatched resolve. Instead of being subdued, he transformed his personal challenge into a mission for the greater good.
With the unwavering support of his wife Rachael, their two daughters, and his indomitable spirit, Ian's fundraising feats are nothing short of remarkable. Despite being wheelchair-bound, he undertook two one-hundred-mile treks and ascended Snowdon in an off-road wheelchair. And he's not stopping there; Ian is setting sights on more fundraising challenges this year. Beyond the funds raised, Ian's infectious positivity stands as an inspiration to us all.
